Social data on Okou
Read public posts, profiles, comments, transcripts and engagement across six social platforms without wiring up six APIs.
Social data · No setup · Managed credits per successful call
Give an agent a public social link or a research question and it can bring back the profile, post, comments, engagement numbers, transcript or summary that the job needs. The service covers YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, X and LinkedIn through one managed interface.
Nothing connects to your own social accounts. Okou keeps the SocialKit credential outside the agent sandbox, and the agent gets read-only public data through reviewed operations. Each successful request uses credits. Private content, posting, media downloads and open-ended bulk collection stay out of scope.
What Social data is
Social research is fragmented by default. Each platform has a different API, approval process, data shape and set of limits, and several make basic public research harder than it needs to be.
On Okou an agent uses one managed service instead. It can search where search is available, read public profiles and posts, pull comments and engagement stats, and turn supported videos into transcripts or summaries.
Coverage follows what each platform exposes. YouTube, TikTok and Instagram have the broadest mix of search, comments, stats and video analysis. Facebook covers public pages and posts. X covers public profiles, posts and threads. LinkedIn covers public people, companies, company posts and native video.
Everything that comes back is treated as source material, not as instructions. A post or comment can inform the result, but it cannot tell the agent to change the task or reveal anything from the run.
What Social data can do
What an agent can do with it, and what comes back when it does.
Coverage and limits
What it does not do, said up front, so nobody plans a workflow around something that is out of scope.
Operations vary by platform
The six platforms do not expose the same things. Search is available on YouTube, TikTok and Instagram, while X and LinkedIn focus on public profiles and specific posts. The agent checks the supported operation instead of pretending every platform is identical.
Public content only
No signed-in feeds, private profiles, closed groups, private messages or content behind an account wall. If a normal public link cannot reach it, this service does not bypass that boundary.
Read and analyze, never act
It does not post, reply, like, follow or message anyone. Actions through a social account belong to a separate connector with separate write permissions.
No media downloads or broad collection
It returns reviewed public data and analysis. Download operations, unknown endpoints and open-ended bulk collection are rejected before provider work starts.
What Social data costs
Web services are billed in credits per call, not per token. There is no separate vendor bill to reconcile.
okou socialEach successful request uses managed credits. A profile read, a comment pull and a summary are separate calls, so a focused question is cheaper and easier to audit than collecting everything first.
Product names and logos belong to their owners and appear here only to say what a service runs on. They do not imply any endorsement or partnership.
Setup and access
Nothing to set up
Nothing to connect. No developer account, no platform app and no SocialKit key of your own. Okou keeps the provider credential outside the sandbox and makes only the reviewed public-data operations available to the agent.
Who can use it
Social data is gated by the social:read capability. Grant it to agents that need public social research and take it back without changing their access to web search, connectors or any write action.
What teams use Social data for
Comparing a launch across platforms
Search the platforms that support discovery, collect the strongest public posts, normalize the engagement numbers and summarize which angles travelled beyond one network.
Researching creators before outreach
Read public profiles and recent content, then compare topics, audience response and posting patterns before deciding who is genuinely relevant to a campaign.
Turning social video into research
Pull transcripts, summaries, stats and comments from public videos so the team can work from the material without watching every clip or copying comments by hand.
When not to use Social data
Do not use it for private or signed-in content, posting or automated engagement, media downloads, surveillance, harassment or collecting personal information at scale. It is not a full historical archive, and platform-specific limits still apply. Use a connected social account only when the task genuinely needs to act as you, and keep that write access separate.
What this is called elsewhere
The same thing goes by several names in the market. If you have shopped for one of these, this is how it maps to what you get here.
Social media API
Programmatic access to public social profiles, posts, comments and stats. Here the access is already managed, so an agent can use it without six developer accounts and six keys.
Social listening API
Searching public conversation, reading the posts that matter and comparing engagement. Coverage is public and platform-specific rather than a private firehose.
Creator analytics API
Public profile, content and engagement research for deciding who fits a campaign. It provides evidence for a shortlist, not private audience data.
Social scraping
A common name for collecting public social pages. This uses reviewed structured operations instead of a browser scraper, so the fields and limits are explicit.
Social video transcript API
Turning public videos into searchable text and summaries across the supported platforms, with stats and comments available as separate calls where the platform supports them.
Social data compared
Social data vs building six platform integrations
Direct integrations give you each platform's full account-level surface, but they also mean six approval flows, six credentials and six response formats. Social data gives an agent one public read surface with no account setup.
Social data vs scraping social pages in a browser
Browser scraping is brittle and returns presentation markup. This returns structured profiles, posts, comments, stats and transcripts through reviewed operations, while staying inside the provider's public-data boundary.
Social data vs connecting your own social account
A connector acts with your account and may read private context or write when you grant it. Social data needs no account and cannot act. Use it for public research, and use a connector only for work that must happen as you.
The short version
Use Social data when an agent needs public evidence from several networks, not control of a social account. It replaces platform-by-platform setup with one read-only service, keeps credentials outside the sandbox and leaves posting out of scope.
Frequently asked questions
Which platforms are supported?
YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, X and LinkedIn. The exact operations vary because the platforms expose different public surfaces.
Do I need accounts or API keys for those platforms?
No. Nothing connects to your social accounts, and there is no developer app or provider key for your team to maintain.
Can an agent post or reply?
No. Social data is read-only. Posting, replying and other account actions require a separate connector and explicit write permission.
Can it read private content?
No. It only reaches public content. It does not sign in, open private profiles, read direct messages or bypass an account wall.
Does every platform support search, comments and transcripts?
No. YouTube, TikTok and Instagram have the broadest coverage. Facebook, X and LinkedIn expose narrower sets of public profiles, posts, stats, threads or native video.
Can it download videos?
No. Media download operations are not exposed. It can return transcripts and summaries for supported public videos without handing the agent a temporary download link.
What does it cost?
Each successful managed request uses credits. Reading a profile, pulling comments and generating a summary are separate requests, so the cost follows the work the agent actually does.
How is this different from the X connector?
Social data reads public material with no account connected and cannot post. The X connector uses your own X account and can act as you only when you grant those permissions.
How you ask for Social data
You describe what you want in plain language. The agent works out which service it needs and makes the calls.
“Search YouTube, TikTok and Instagram for posts about this launch, compare the ten strongest by engagement and summarize the themes that are working.”
“Compare these five creators from their public profiles and recent posts, and tell me which two genuinely fit our campaign and why.”
“Pull the transcript, stats and top comments for these public videos, then summarize what viewers liked, questioned and disagreed with.”
